League Games

Each player’s turn consists of 3 thrown darts.

A player’s feet must remain behind the throw line.

All thrown darts count. If a dart’s point (tip, not the back side where the flight is) doesn’t stick within the scoring area of the board for whatever reason – falling out, knocked out, missing the board, it counts as a thrown dart, but does not score. A dart, which sticks in the back of another dart, does not score. You must also score your darts before they are pulled from the board.

01 – 01 is the official league game of the SLCDA. Variations of the game are 301 double in and double out, and 501 straight in double out. The object of the game is to work down from 01 to 0 exactly. The double cork may be used to start or finish a game. The game ends when one player finishes on a double (e.g. 32 points remaining, the double 16 must be hit, if said player hits more points then are remaining it is called a bust and that player returns to the score that they had.

Cricket – The object of the game is to score three darts in each number from the 20, 19, 18, 17, 16, 15 and the bull. If one of the teams closes a number before the other they may point in that number. To win the game a team must close all the numbers and have the same number or more points.

Equipment (Sponsor/Pub owners responsibility)

A.                 All association competition, including tournaments, shall be on a standard bristle type boards.

B.

How To Hang Your Dartboard

Dartboards are to be hung where the center of the board is 5ft 8in (173 cm) high. I would strongly recommend that you hang it on a backboard, or any other type of backing, to help protect your walls. Four holes in the wall are better than hundreds of little holes. The toe line should be 7ft 9.25in (2.37 meters) from the face of the board for Steel Tip and 8ft for Soft Tip.  Measured horizontally, for Steel Tip, from the bull's-eye down to the floor, it is 9ft 7 3/8in.

The only thing you need to do to the dartboard after it is hung, is to rotate it. This will only work if your dartboard has the removable metal ring with the numbers on it. If the numbers are painted on the board, you will not be able to rotate it. Rotating the board will make it last longer. There has been a rumor going around for years that you should spray water on your bristle board. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT spray any types of liquids on a bristle board. It will ruin your board. I have seen some boards that were sprayed, and it isn't a pretty picture. The surface of the board begins to 'bubble' and fall apart.

C.                 The sponsoring establishments or organizations shall be responsible for supplying and maintaining at least the following number of Bristle dartboards (the following is for the Thursday night 3 person league)

1-2 league teams: Two boards.

3-4 league teams: Four boards.

5-6 league teams: Six boards.

Our Tuesday night doubles league the sponsoring establishments shall be responsible for supplying and maintaining 1 Bristle dart board for every two teams.

D.                 All dartboards shall be amply illuminated with minimum shadows on the playing surface.

E.                  All dartboards shall be positioned so as to be readily available to players without distraction to any thrower at any point of the game.

F.                  A scoring surface shall be mounted in such a position that:

1.      The scorer may be in close proximity to the scoreboard without distracting the player.

2.      The opponents and spectators may easily read the score.

G.                 The Captain of any team objecting to the playing conditions may protest the match to the SLCDA in writing within 24 hours of said matches, (see Grievances), but said match shall be played and scores recorded. If the match was not played then the forfeit rule will be applied, until the board has a meeting on the course of action to follow out.

A.                 All league competition shall begin on a date set by the SLCDA.

I.                    Before the match the two captains will write down their line up on the score sheet, with the higher ranked team writing down there line up first. The home team Captain is responsible for the score sheet, collecting of monies and mailing the score sheet out.

J.                   If an illegal player, i.e. an unregistered player, a player registered on another team, a player barred from the league, a player that is banned form one location is played in any league match; the team using the illegal player will forfeit the match. The board will have the final say.

L.                  A team shall be allowed only one forfeit per season. The second forfeit may result in suspension for the remainder of the season and the next season for team and all team members. If any team forfeits 1 of the last 2 weeks of the season that team will be suspended the next season. An individual may appeal suspension to the SLCDA in written.

M.               A team shall be allowed only one post ponement or one pre play match per season.

N.                Any team unable to field a full team shall miss a turn for said missing player in each round. Under no circumstances shall 1 player be allowed to shoot for another player, playing at the same time.

Reporting Outcome of Match

The home team Captain’s duty is to collect the players fees and mail the completed score sheet, signed by both Captain’s. Then mail the score sheet, it must be post marked the day after said match is completed. Failure to do so will penalize said team responsible 1 game point. A warning may be given first.

Coaching
